Wow! its so amazing to see such a terrifying storm look so beautiful from space. I wish that I could be the one to actually see it for myself in space. It doesn't seem real as it would from ur own eyes.
they are on the NASA website, with the many other hurricane names and dates posted underneath them, since removed here 'Isabel' claims most of the good images
Just think how scary it was being in it. That is def. something I do not ever want to do again!! I heard that it was bigger than Katrina. The last I heard on the radio, 29 counties in Texas were declared federal disaster area. Thanks for the pics though. They are gorgeous.
We lost a dog and a fence. If you were in the storm or if you are from the area and you evacuated though, just thank God you are still alive and reading this, some are not. As long as you are still breathing, things could always have been worse.
well we made it and so far we are looking like we can fix things and get on with our lives unlike our neighbors who came to houston and never left i hope this one sent them all back home to were they belong which is not here riding the governments free ride
I was hit by Ike and let me tell you, it's crazy over here right now. Tree after tree are down. They've been working to clear the roads and remove trees off of houses. Thank God, we weren't as hard hit as the people in Houston, east of here, or the Galveston area. Now it's really about neighbors helping neighbors and that's definitely happening. We have an amazing community here. God bless Texas!
wow this is cool!and also very heart breaking for all the people who lost there homeand things that are very vailiable feel very sorry for those people!
I live in Texas City (Galveston County), these pics make that storm look mild compared to actually being in it. 112 mile an hour winds are not fun. It was awful...and to see the destruction left behind is devastating to say the least.
It's quite interesting that some of you know about hurricanes, it,s educational.Oh,this is how you spell it :VALIABLE.{no offense}.Also,I,m so thankful that where I live doesn,t have an record of hurricanes.
WOWWWWW it's so amazing how some thing that seems so big to us like hurricane ike can almost take up half the earth next time you should think that hurricane ike or any hurricane can almost take up half the earth.
These photos are so unique.I think the most beautiful one is the 14th one.I was paying attention the the similarity between all of them, they all have swirling hole made of clouds{?}.
I'm an avid space fan and backpacker. These photos remind me of what my neighbor said to me one time, "Looks like rain, sir" or as Lightning McQueen said in the hit movie CARS, "I create feelings in others that they themselves don't understand." Nice posts sir!
I really want to be there 4 real and i want to see 4 myself . love the pics god bless any one who was in the ike hurricane. my brothers girlfriends house was all under water and they lost everything the power was out 4 about a week or two ................. Love you lots bro and all my familia in houston
It does not matter if the pictures are of Ike or other storms, it is a terrible thing to live through. In 2004 my husband and I lived through 4 one right after the other. The damage and fright and distruction is unreal. Yes the pictures are beautiful to look at but the result is not a thing of beauty.
don't want to ever see another hurricane again! That Ike left Houstonians without power for weeks. Sucks to live midevil. Learned a lot though...still over 300 missing. You should google Ike and Boliver peninsula....they got hit extremely bad...
We stayed in Bmt. for Ike. It was a terrible and awesome night full of horrors and beauty alike. My friends in Bridge City are bulldozing homes. Kids need school supplies. Some students live in churches. A friend that has a beach house on Emerald Beach is the only one still standing, lost the bottom floor. We have a bit of eaves damage. The devastion for others is total loss and bankruptcy without help. Please give if you can. We are still recovering from 2005 Rita and now Ike.

Maybe that's because we don't appreciate beauty as easily when we're afraid for our lives :o)
