Why is it that if it's interesting or good or well done, some idiot will come along and say "photodshopped"? As some kind of accusation of phoniness? Get real darlin, not all is done in editing but some things that are worth a second look are actually real. And this is whimsical, not hard to do in reality at all and i seriously doubt that it's "shopped".
Oh, I thought it was quite well done. No need to photoshop some sculptor probably got paid a lot to do that.
Photoshopped my ass. Some people can be clever without having to cheat. Try it sometime.
Trying to be cynical and blase and worldly, are you? You failed miserably. Get out of grammar school first.
As for the lady with the leaves, I suspect a truck with a scoop or some kind of grabber comes around periodically to pick those piles up. She only HAD to move them a few feet. YOU probably would have raked them all the way to the dump.
Trying to be a smartass, getting it half right.
Now go tell your mommy you've been playing on her computer.
If you look at the shadows closely you will see that they do not match with the statue. There are like some stars or somethin coming out of the dudes hand.
And in the first picture there are some letters just floating in mid air.
its definately not photoshopped, what would be the point, the effort is in the idea and whether or not you perform the process in reality or on a computer, you have still performed the creation of the idea. there is no need to photoshop it. the pixels have bunched like that due to the jpeg format of the picture. if you look around they have collected and bunched sharply like that around the sculpture, the tree leaves, everything that is flatter, sharper and less blended.
u guys are douchebags, there is no need to photoshop something that doesnt need photoshopping
Pixels??? Are you idiots taking the suspect image into photoshop?
You're looking at diffuse shadow... or soft shadow produced by more than one light source.
Fools... probably can't even remove your mothers sorry warts in photoshop.
Who would shop something like this? No, I've seen art like this IRL. Even graffiti. :B It's not hard. (Because city lights at night always cast shadows in the same place) And it's very cool, IMO.
Anon 15, sorry but you're a moron in more than one way.
Shopped is a joke ... a joke ... A JOKE... even if its a REAL PHOTO People will say shopped for humor sake ... god damn get off your high fucking horses and LAUGH A LITTLE...
If you aren't experienced enough to see all the pixels in the picture, and deduce from that - that it is photoshoped...
Then just look at the shadows. No matter how strong the light, the farther an object is away from it's shadow, the weaker the shadow.
In the picture, not only is the statue's shadow off center from where it should be... but it is just as dark and deep as the tree's. That's not possible because remember how distance and light affect a shadow? How then, can both trees (which are at the most a foot or two away from the wall) be the same consistency as the statue.
I loved 28's comment though, lighten up for real - and go get a life so I can stop interjecting and get on with mine - thanks =]
Cool pitcure. and it is real, the only thing that was done in photoshop to this picture was maybe some simple levels adj, contrast/brightness, or maybe some sharpening mask. but anyone who is suggesting that the the photo is fake doesn't know photography.
America's retard is aptly named. For one, not only is the tree negligibly closer to the wall, the statue's shadow is softer. Put on your glasses. Also, there is nothing wrong with the location of the statue's shadow.
I hate to be "that guy" but if you don't get that "photoshop", "I've seen a lot of photoshops in my day..." and "You can tell by the pixels" is just a joke, and a very very common one at that, you just aren't paying attention.
You can see by the pixels that it was photoshopped, because of the pixels. Look at the pixels to the right. They're clearly shopped. And Anonymous: STFU!!1 You just ruined my online PS tutorial.
so, 4... thank you for starting up a game of shopped or not here. way to prove that even though jackasses are everywhere, chivalry isn't completely dead.
i would also like to defend this innocent picture's virtue and say that it's not photoshopped.
This statue/wall carving is in my hometown and its real. Not hard to believe at all.. if anyone's ever been so far as to have taken their heads out of their asses and traveled... the world has a million things to offer that you'll never believe until seeing yourself!
Oh dear, I press the StumbleUpon button and it links me a photograph of an amazing statue that manages ton integrate the surroundings as part of the effect and what do i also get? People of a lower intellect than the artist getting jealous and calling his work a 'shop job'. Grow up and accept that some people are better than you.
P.S Oh no someone Photoshopped my post look at the pixels
Also, forgot to mention, there are two light sources, you can see the slightly double edged shadow. It appears to have overlapping areas of penumbra, rather than one solid edge.
Who would bother to photo shop such an easy immage to attain... and yes I am kinda rusty with spelling and grammar but stupid I am not and to waste time and nurves bickering about absolute horseshitt is STUPID! enjoy life.... youre going to die soon... SOON....!
i came here to enjoy a cool photo and i get this nonsense. get out of your homes and go for a walk instead of arguing about something as trivial as photoshopped photo on a message bored.
This Unicorn is sooo pretty, I love the way its about to take off ( This is an example of smoking weed and over analysing a simple picture)! Great pic, will def use this idea!! O and for the rest, thanks for the VERY entertaining read!! (P.S. this message was Photoshopped!!! MWHAHAHA)
"Trying to be cynical and blase and worldly, are you? You failed miserably."
So there are actually people using the internet that still haven't realized what a joke it is to claim that something is photoshopped?
You, sir, are the one who fails at being worldly.
"Trying to be a smartass, getting it half right."
Your own insults are shockingly accurate when pointed right back at you.
It is not photoshopped. It is real. It doesn't need to be photoshopped. The statue is called The Seeder and it is done by the conceptual artist by the name of Morfai. He has other works as well. I imagine some of you skeptics would think it was photoshopped if you were standing right in front of it.
http://jetcomx.com/2008/09/14/morfais-statue-shadow-graffiti-plants-stars-in-lithuania/
Seriously..who really cares if it was photoshopped or not!! It's not hurting anyone peoples, it's just a picture and it's a great one at that! Gawd, get over yourselves and get a friggen life!!!
I've been seeing pixels since before you were born, sonny boy, and I'm tellin' ya there ain't no damn pixels in this photo. No pixel dust, no pixel DNA, nothing. So stop sayin' you see pixels or I'll KILL YA.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really cool, i want those stars in my room!
My name is Anonymous and I argued this whole thread with myself (except for the few people who thought this was real...noobs). My argument is also photoshopped and shooped, and I can clearly tell cause I have seen quite a few shops in my day and you can see the pixels in my argument. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
statue shadow is too dark. lower the opacity, set it to multiply, add some blur please...it's hard to look at. hate it, idea is second rate as well. i thought of doing something like this but decided to come out instead.
Seriosly the concept and idea is lost over the whole thing- because all you are doing now is arguing over it being real or fake. The artist did it to say something. not wage a lame war on the internet. this happens all too often- you guys- i have an opinion of what it is and i refuse to say it just because i don't want to be another wasted viewer. Go create your own with a computer or without one, whichever you prefer- and try looking at things with the artist's perspective- not the critic's.
hey, for what its worth, some of us dont care how it was done, its just a really cool picture. take it in the spirit in which it was intended people...or get a life
looks to me like a the photographer couldn't get the image they wanted to, i.e they sucked at low light photography. So they really badly shopped the shadows and a fake light source. Thats why there appears to be two shadows, the fainter one is the real original one. I can understand how you could make the mistake though, ther are pixels everywhere :]
what a sad world it is that we can no longer look at a picture, something magnificent and simply enjoy it. We feel we must argue with someone over its realness as to whether it's photoshopped or not, who gives. It's really quite an interesting concept that should be appreciated, not argued over.
and another comment on the pixelation, sometimes camera's take grainy pictures at night because the flash can't make up for daylight. If you really don't think this concept is humanly possible go to Lithuania and stop bitching.
AHahaha, c'mon people! The FIRST person who said "Photoshopped" also said "Lol". Anybody who's been on the internet for more than 3 days knows that it's now THE THING TO DO with ANY post. You have to say "photoshopped!" even if it's a text post. They were joking. Yeesh.... It's blatantly not photoshopped anyway 'cause it would take more time to make it perfect in photoshop than it would to do it in reality. Use your noggins
Allright check this out I'm a professional Digital media artist and Ive been in the biz for 15 years so I know alot about photodhop and all that, so
when sombodie comes up to a fine peice of art like this sand says its photoshoped I say Nice eye lil dude you obviously know you stuff.
And To all those chaps who say its real well gett back to your mediocre lifes cuz you dont know the first thing about art you foul fools peace out!
And lick my tenders.
If photoshopped is really a joke, its timeto get creative, cause then it must be the oldest on going joke ever!! and the badest, most annoying! wake up!!
How difficult is this to understand? The people who say photos are 'shopped do not mean it. It is an internet meme. People say this partly as an in-joke and partly "trolling" to get a reaction from others who are not in on the joke. Just ignore them and they will go away.
Agree with 111.
This whole comment section proves that there are lots of trolls with nothing better to do than joking around with nice stuffs like this. And there are lots of idiots who take this shit so seriously as to argue until the technical part of it. Come on, the more you argue, the more the trolls or whoever says 'shopped' enjoy this. Their purpose is not to comment on the pic but to get you guys annoyed. So just ignore them.
NOT FUCKING PHOTOSHOPPED to those that seriously are considering it. For the rest of the people mad at the "look at the pixels" comments, its internet satire/trolls.
Oh wow. I saw it an thought it was totally real. But then all those people started saying it was shopped, so I began to have doubts. Is it shopped? Could it be? Say it isn't so!
Then I looked at the pixels! I had a revelationwhere as neo finally saw the matrix, I could now see the pixels.
Look at the pixels, people. You will see them . . . if you really want to. Then you will see the truth. . . that the picture is real.
I'm pretty sure whom ever it was who said this was photoshopped was kidding at first, but some very uptight persons decided to make an argument out of it, which just led the "kidder" to continue kidding. He's fucking with all of you, I hope you realize that.
I really loved the shopped or not argument, thought that too many folks were in on the joke for it to elicit such fury anymore. Yes it's trollish and adolescent to provoke folks that way, but somehow nothing is funnier than self-righteous anger from the one person who doesn't get the hoax.
As for the statue, kinda cool in a "15 second stumble on the internet" way, but certainly not anything that is enhanced by having people say "Wow, that's really cool." But good work. Even though it's photoshopped.
Blimey can't believe how many nasty people there are out there. What it if is photoshopped, photoshopping is a skill!! That not every nerd can do! Plus hasn't it anyone realised that the original sculptor probably had the idea of sprinkling the stars, it appears to me to be the coming together of the sculpture and its surrounds. The photographer (i believe you didn't photoshop it) simply captured what the original artist wanted to convey!
As for pixels..... it is very hard to tell a photoshopped image from a jpeg when it is put online as the jpeg mularky will do allsorts of damage making it appear as dodgy montage work. You shouldn't judge what you don't see an original file of unless it is a really really obvious kiddies type of montage.
J
Good lord... how can you exist on the internet and not have a sense of humor/knowledge of interwebz slang/memes?
The one thing that this picture needs is moar cowbells.
OMG!!! THIS IS SOO COOL!!!! BUT WHAT IF THE SHADOW IS IN A DIFFERENT SPOT EACH TIME???? DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN THEE RIGHT POSITION AT THE RIGH TIME???? ALSO, SOMEBODY BETTER READ MY COMMENT BECUASE I PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THIS!! OK, MAYBE NOT. NOW IM JUST FOOLING AROUND. ALSDKJFAOEWINGKJSDNFV EAICJTPKDRJVGLKDSAJFSLAKJRFASDLF
There are no pixels there, only shadows of pixels. And it is not a real statue, but a print of a statue made in Photoshop and pasted onto a cardboard cutout and placed there in real life.
And the light source is not real either it was probably faxed in from another location.
It's real, it's in kaunas, I took this pic in the square and didn't know about the stars.
I enlarged the section, otherwise with image resized you wouldn't be able to see it.
I think this has been mentioned(momentarily) but the second picture is taken a few feet away from where the first was.
So if you see something "off" it could be because of that distance.
The picture is real, the shadows are right, the reason it looks blurred on the edge is from the light source having two points of origin (car headlights) The points are close together, but if they were further apart there would be two shadows of the insensity of the blur section (i.e. grey). I have a degree in this nonsense, but that doesn't change the internet, so I must also say photoshopped. While nothing has changed but the size of the photo, the purists amoung use would say that only a negative is the truth captured and any enlargement or cropping takes from the scene and would be considered a after thought to correct an artists lack of skill with a camera.
Of course I am sure that someone with no talent other than arguing on the internet could dispute this, but I would love to see a photographer weigh in.
Being stupid and talking out of your ass does not make you an legitimate expert. I appreciate the humor and love to destroy the beauty and art in the world with a few words of cynicism, but at some point it just becomes silly. I tell people that they suck all the time. Because they do.
even if your saying shopped as a joke its not funny and really disrespectful to real people. and maybe its shopped a bit, but its obviously based from a real statue and picutre, thats the whole point of the stars being there, to look cool like that, someone just wanted to display it for everyone to appreciate.
Thats not photoshoped you can tell that there is really strong light at an angle that is leaving the shadow on the wall. If it was photoshopped what would be the point of the stars on the wall and the man with the closed fist.
53 I agree. You people need to get a life...I can't actually believe I read down to 53, must be bored...you guys looked outside lately, or been outside lately...maybe you've got pixels on the brain. Mahalo!
LMAO! Wth! Why do all of you think this was photoshoped? Its not that hard to make something like that in real life. You make a statue. You put a lamp up some where to provide the shadow at night and then when the sun is down you go out and paint a few stars on the wall where the shadow is! Holy crap people! Its a real piece of art that didn't need to be altered digitaly!
Remember when we were young when this thread began? Sooo long ago. People named their kids real names, like "Target" and "Stingray" and "Lightplug"? Now half the people are named anonymous 45 or some other number. When I started reading this thread my hair was raven-black, and I was in the flower of my womanhood. Now my hair is silver, hanging down to my tired, shriveled woman-member.
Even as old as I have now gotten to be,(frankly, I´m about half dead. This might be the last thing I ever write, I´m writing on this frikkin thread, good-by sweet liiiiiiife) I am still a prophesional graphic artist. I can tell you right now that this photo, (you remember the photo? Wake up!!!) is definatley shopped. Oh, it´s shopped all righty. Why would I lie? I mean, that would be sick.
LOL IF YOU PEOPLE HAVE THE TIME TO WASTE BY READING THIS FAR CANT YOU JUST GO TO WIKIPEDIA OR SOMETHING AND LOOK UP THE WORD INTERNET TROLLING? ITS FUCKING CLEAR THAT THEY ARE JUST HAVING YOU WOOTS. SO INSTEAD OF STUPIDIFYING YOURSELF WITH ARGUING ON A STUPID TOPIC, ADD LITTLE BIT OF KNOWLEDGE TO YOUR NEANDERTHAN BRAIN CELLS
btw stuble upon brought me to this freaking thread again
it doesn't matter if it's fake or not IT'S NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE EITHER WAY so let it go good for them they got a semi-cool pic hope they didn't actually get paid for it....
IT IS NOT PHOTOSHOPPED. You internet kids you look unreal. You base your affirmations on illogical parameters. I have seen pictures that had bad pixels. It is called a bad camera. Check the shadow in the second image. You can tell it was not the image of the guy tilted. If it would be photoshoped the guy who did it would have come to take a different perspective picture of the stature because in the SHADOW there is GAP between the STRIP and the ARM. Which means that either he took a different pic from a diffferent perspective just to go home and PS it or it is real. Or, he was so good at PS that he took the statue, turned it black and redraw that detail. Which it is hard to believe.
There is GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY and there are INTERNET KIDS from a trash culture who believe that their reality is a FAKE. Go and watch more Cartoon Network or whatever you kids watch these days.
If you're on the side that it's photo shopped or if you're not, it tells you what kind of person you are.
I bet you. It's so true too!

I'd like it to be true. there is a check out Kaunas, Lithuania then "seeder" in google earth. there is a photo without the stars there. maybe they came later, maybe not real. lets get a big plane and all go there

What I don't get is why the fuck anyone would have this shit argument about shit that doesn't matter... I don't see why anyone would shoop this when they could easily just do it irl & I don't think it is but seriously who gives a fuck? People should just know that trolls happen & not care about it...
yea, well you can just lick my wet butt hole if you think I'm going to Guatemala or Wisconsin or wherever the heck this thing is ...
I agree with the comment about it being just as easy to set this up in real life as it would be to photoshop it ... it would be a pain in the left butt hole to shop it when you could just go to Sacramento or Tibet or whatever and spray paint the stars on that wall at the time of night when the streetlight hits the statue of Fred just the right way .. JEEZ PEOPLE!!
P.S. damn you StumbleUpon for sending me here in the first place

I stumbled across this page only to see all of you assholes with no lives make lame comments. Though I wouldn't waste my time reading all of them the few rectal spewing comments were enough to turn me off. Grow up people!!!
It would have been much harder to photo shop this. It would take some talent to add in a shaday of the statue that stands in a different perspective because the light casting the shadow is in a different location than the camera.
Hmmmmm, several hours with Photoshop,
or several seconds in RL.
any idiot can do this with some paint for the stars, and a lamp.

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.
What a cool image. Whoever made it is really good at Photoshop.
You know it's photoshopped because it says it's in Lithuania, and everyone knows Lithuania is completely Photoshopped. Has anyone been to Lithuania? Even met a Lithuanian? Can you prove it? No, because it's all Photoshopped. You can tell by the pixels.
"Suck my black cock you bunch of illiterate morons.

Thank you for that enlightened statement 189. And, please, lay off the Crystal Meth. It's effects really are long term.
man, using the comment "it's photoshopped because i see the pixels" is really stupid, learn about image compression before you open your mouth. An image is MADE up of pixels. BTW for the guy that doesn't know what Lithuania is. Its a country in Europe, look it up.
I don't think it's photoshopped because:
1. no need to photoshop... only need one light
2. if it's photoshopped is a good work, because he must take photo from another point of view (in shadow there's light between legs, in real pictures cannot see two legs separatly)
3. shadow it's not exactly but it's smooth depending the size of light source and distance from light, the man and the wall. this is why trees's shadow it's exactly and the man it's smooth: the man it's more far form the wall than the trees.
4. I guess the sculptor build this effect appositly, it's a really poetic message
who cares, it's not photoshopped, and theres no obvious "pixels" (considering that every friggin picture in any computer are constructed with pixels) I think this post was made to show the great creativity of the sculpture instead of to compare wether it's photoshopped or not.
like I always tell my friends, learn your facts before you say something, or you'll come out stupid.
ok guys... the shadow is on the wall and the stars and moons that are "in mid air" are painted on the wall and then signed to that at night when the shadow is on the wall, it looks like he's tossing stars... DUH! BTW, i'm only in 7th grade and i know that... dumbasses

Hmmmmm, several hours with Photoshop,
or several seconds in RL.
any idiot can do this with some paint for the stars, and a lamp.
you can tell the way the hues don't match.

You know it's photoshopped because it says it's in Lithuania, and everyone knows Lithuania is completely Photoshopped. Has anyone been to Lithuania? Even met a Lithuanian? Can you prove it? No, because it's all Photoshopped. You can tell by the pixels.
And then go outside.

Thank you for that enlightened statement 189. And, please, lay off the Crystal Meth. It's effects really are long term.
It's all photoshopped. What you need to do is look around the picture's characters, the statue, the lady...the pixels are there!
1. no need to photoshop... only need one light
2. if it's photoshopped is a good work, because he must take photo from another point of view (in shadow there's light between legs, in real pictures cannot see two legs separatly)
3. shadow it's not exactly but it's smooth depending the size of light source and distance from light, the man and the wall. this is why trees's shadow it's exactly and the man it's smooth: the man it's more far form the wall than the trees.
4. I guess the sculptor build this effect appositly, it's a really poetic message
that's waht
like I always tell my friends, learn your facts before you say something, or you'll come out stupid.
Matsuo
that makes me laugh
its not like you need photoshop to make a statue that casts a shadow at a certain angle X)
and ps. if it was photoshopped, you probably would never know. Only the person who took the photo would know.
