Cage of death

Without the cage you wouldn't stand a chance swimming with a massive saltwater crocodile.

But for brave punters who still want to get cosy with a feisty croc, a new Australian tourist attraction is offering the chance for a close encounter in the safety of a clear acrylic box dubbed the 'cage of death'.

Just 4cm of acrylic, a pair of goggles and a swimsuit, will separate thrill-seekers from the jaws of Choppa, a saltwater crocodile.

OMG with a name like ' Choppa ' and feet like that, can you imagine meeting up with one of these
suckers in the wild? I'd be dead of a heart attack
before it got in the first bite!

edit - remove - report - save #2 - by Anonymous Nov 21, 2008

I think it is so wrong to taunt animals like this -just because we want some excitement- freespirit

edit - remove - report - save #3 - by Anonymous Nov 21, 2008

They look delicious!

edit - remove - report - save #4 - by Insanity Nov 21, 2008

they should be able to feed it.

edit - remove - report - save #5 - by treehugger Nov 21, 2008

they should feed him the occasional tourist... so that it's not teasing because that's mean.

edit - remove - report - save #6 - by Anonymous Nov 21, 2008

Feed them Husein Obamination. Thereafter, a demo-a-day diet.

edit - remove - report - save #10 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

Holy crap, check the last photo.

Look like Jack Black decided to pay a visit to Choppa.

edit - remove - report - save #11 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

Looks more like Bam.

edit - remove - report - save #12 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

So cooooool!!

edit - remove - report - save #13 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

Well maybe it's Bam AND Jack Black (you must admit they'd be the coolest couple ever) cos there are two guys in there, getting quite close if you know what I mean...

Come to think of it, this could really add a bit of spice to uh... intimate relations. Nothing like a gigantic killer crocodile to et the heart pounding. Good call, Jack and Bam.

edit - remove - report - save #14 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

edit - remove - report - save #15 - by Anonymous Nov 22, 2008

edit - remove - report - save #23 - by maddie Nov 23, 2008

ya that tank will burst and they will be sorry that hey did that to an animal

edit - remove - report - save #24 - by maddie Nov 23, 2008

people are so dum sometimes i mean why the hell would you do that

edit - remove - report - save #25 - by Anonymous Nov 23, 2008

I'd like to see the cage break and the alligator get some supper. Poor thing, getting teased like that just so some humans can get some jollies. That's like standing just outside the reach of a pit bull's chain and standing there and teasing him with a steak.

edit - remove - report - save #26 - by Harvey Hoke (o7IoaYt5UM) - Nov 24, 2008

I can see how the people might want to get a close look at the croc, but is this really necessary? There is very little reason to do this other than the adrenaline rush, and there are other ways of getting that without taunting an animal.

edit - remove - report - save #27 - by Harvey Hoke (o7IoaYt5UM) - Nov 24, 2008

THIS is why we put up signs that say "Don't Feed the Bears".

this id obviously a man i a rubber suit people please learn to not be suhc sheep why do you belve everything u read?

edit - remove - report - save #29 - by Anonymous Nov 24, 2008

i see it as a form of enrichment for Choppa. If it were not for the cage of death he'd be one bored croc sitting at the bottom waiting for his next meal from the bucket.

edit - remove - report - save #30 - by Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

So... Who's taking the pics?

edit - remove - report - save #31 - by Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

is that jack black and kyle gass?

edit - remove - report - save #32 - by Lii (rSfblDToqc) - Nov 25, 2008

I think that's awesome... I'd love to do that. And really, it's not as cruel as you think. No more than walking by them in the zoo. And 4cm of acrylic is actually pretty damn safe.

edit - remove - report - save #44 - by Alison Nov 30, 2008

People are such douche bags. What the hell is entertaining about being safe behind a glass wall... not to mention the fact that its cruel.

edit - remove - report - save #45 - by Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

they should feed him to the crock

edit - remove - report - save #46 - by Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

Yes the poor animal who is constantly feed every day is being taunted because it can't take a bite out of a person. You people are sick. You think its terrible that an animal is being taken care of and "teased", but would like to watch a person be ripped to shreds. If you so worried about the animals go ask a wilderbeast if he thinks this is cruel.

edit - remove - report - save #47 - by Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

so, is the person taking the pics in the water with the croc? or are there 2 cages?

edit - remove - report - save #48 - by Anonymous Nov 30, 2008

"its photoshopped, i can tell"
well, now what a talent you have.dumbass. its not photoshopped, there is a place like this and if i knew who you were, i would sent you hate mail every day. also, you spazzes who say don't tease the animal, how are they teasing them? why would the damn crocodile want to eat a filthy, disgusting human flavored pile of flesh anyways? why? idiots.

edit - remove - report - save #49 - by ppl HATER! (VKdBX94pbg) - Nov 30, 2008

for the last fucking time, why do you think the croc is being teased? what the hell else is he supposed to do if there were no death cage? oh, im choppa, i have nothing to do since there were so many shitheads who thought it was cruel that i got to see wierdos in a little cage, i should kill myself, but i have no razors. blah blah blah. and why, oh why do you say it was photoshopped? it has no trace of being photoshopped at all, so screw your blind dead granny, and shut the fuck up!

edit - remove - report - save #50 - by u guys are retards its no (3LrT5NRVks) - Dec 1, 2008

u idiots think its cruel well u guys should take away the glass and see if the croc doesnt want to be cruel. he wouldnt care even if wed never have "teased him" hed still eat us all

edit - remove - report - save #54 - by Random Dec 1, 2008

Noo.... it was photoshopped. Look at all the pictures. They "croc" is always in the same postition, with its arms extended not too far from head. Look closely!!

edit - remove - report - save #55 - by Anonymous Dec 1, 2008

If the "poor" animal was really being taunted don't you think he's have turned on the camera man?
What a bunch of fucking morons...

edit - remove - report - save #56 - by Anonymous Dec 2, 2008

The "croc" is at a different angle in all the pictures, and in one of them, his mouth is closed. You look closely, asshole.

edit - remove - report - save #57 - by Anonymous Dec 2, 2008

the real "cruelty" going on here is the bitterness flying back and forth between strangers separated by impenetrable virtual reality.
the crocodile isn't trying to attack anyone, he is just a beautiful specimen of the power of nature. we get a thrill from feeling small in comparison, which is beautiful if one can learn to approach the natural world with respect.
we are all animals.

edit - remove - report - save #58 - by Anonymous Dec 2, 2008

Ok, seriously?
the people who are saying it's photoshopped are JOKING. everyone should know by now that there are always people who are going to say something is photoshopped just to say it.
and i am assuming that the person taking the picture is outside of the exhibit, on the other side of the glass.

ok?

edit - remove - report - save #59 - by Anonymous Dec 3, 2008

oh WOW!!! Those people must be insane! I wouldnt get in that water if it was the last thing i ever did

edit - remove - report - save #62 - by Anonymous Dec 4, 2008

Teasing?
If Crocodiles were smart enough to know they were being taunted and have feelings about the matter, I'm pretty sure they'd be the ones with automobiles, civilizations, and underwater cages.
Get a fucking grip.

In the keys salt water crocs and fresh water alligators swim in the canals and ponds. My friend worked for animal control and was investigating reports that a 7 foot croc or gator was eating neighborhood dogs. a woman at the site asked her "but isn't it still save for my kids to swim in the canal?" true story.

edit - remove - report - save #68 - by Anonymous Dec 4, 2008

This is inhumane treatment of this animal and should not be tolerated, or supported in any way.

edit - remove - report - save #69 - by Anonymous Dec 4, 2008

What were they thinking... why tempt fate? I mean now they make Choppa use to humans and one day he mysteriously get's out and tries to befriend a human and get's killed because humans don't really want to be befriended by a croc. Death by misunderstanding!!!!

edit - remove - report - save #70 - by Anonymous Dec 5, 2008

Fisherman catch fish because fish are too stupid to realize that they are being baited. LOL!

edit - remove - report - save #72 - by Anonymous Dec 9, 2008

you're all blithering idiots. The tank, if anything, is agitating the croc. Causing him stress. So if, for whatever reason, the humans become available to him, he'll probably attack whether or not he's hungry. "At least he's not bored", some of you will undoubtably argue. Right. Fucking A. I'd rather be bored than pissed. I hate people.
