Yea, we got some crazy snow for a little while. The snowbanks were pretty much as tall as me. Right down the street [you can kinda see it in the first picture] the corner had so much snow due to shoveling and plowing that no one could cross the street there. The whole corner was a huge snowbank. haha.
As far as cemeteries we have a lot of them here, and they are huge, and you just get used to being around them. We even have smaller cemeteries on church grounds as well, which I guess in some places, that is unheard of. In fact, about 3 blocks away is a church cemetary. Only about 2 miles away is the Veterans cemetary. And down the street about a mile or so is yet another very large cemetery. I guess I am so used to being around these all of my life that there is no creepiness to them? You hear the bell toll at times too which is way awesome. It brings to mind a poem:
For Whom the Bell Tolls
by John Donne
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Some people fear death and even anything that has to do with it. They just need to come to grips with the fact that it is going to happen. Imagine if the doctor told you you had 6 mos left to live? It'd change the way you think and live.
I like the snow. Not so crazy about shoveling, though. My kids love to play in it! Usually the walk home from school only takes 10 minutes, but it takes about a half hour because of them playing in the snow.
It sucks that my digital camera got stolen because I wanted to get pictures of the cemetary in each season. I don't have any spring or summer photos now. Unless I find a decent camera that I can afford, anyway.
