Gee, if we aren't permitted, by law, to use our cell phones at the pump, then why is the person operating the freaking FUEL TANKER, filling the pumps with gas, allowed to use his?? WTF??!!
Wow! That is amazing! Agree or disagree with the law there is no excuse for this. The public's perception is that there is a real danger and he really should be setting a good example.
Rules should be challenged, to follow blindly what authority tells us to is unhealthy, it isn't like he is mugging someone or something, this is a rule which is clearly a load of bureaucratic nonsense good on him for not being someone as idiotic as the poster above who is happy with 'The public's perception is that there is a real danger and he really should be setting a good example.' and also clearly running around like a headless chicken so long as someone in authority tells us we should.
There is no reason for the use of mobile/cell phones to be banned at pumps. The original fear was that radio signals could ignite the fuel, however for the last twenty years fuel pumps themselves have used crude radio transmitters to communicate with the cashier.
In 2007, it was generally acknowledged in the UK that it was OK to use a mobile phone near a fuel pump or tank.
Ok, so everybody is the expert on risks and can choose the rules he wishes to obey. I guess the world would be a funny place if everybody did that. Someone says it's not like he's mugging someone. If I follow you reasoning why should we obey the rule not to mug people? I choose to say that obeying this rule is unhealthy too. It's OK as as long as my victim doesn't end in a coma, right?
